Spartacat and Other Fun Things

by Ryan

Our last bit of reader-submitted material was pretty spectacular, but this was something that came to us a bit before that gem. Reader Salty T ventured up to Ottawa to see the Sabres knock off the Senators to open the season and he sent along a few pictures.

That’s Salty T on the left being attacked by what looks like Milla Jovovich in The Fifth Element. Or maybe that’s Spartacat. I can never tell.

In any event, he had good things to say about Ottawa.

“Ottawa is by far the best arena I’ve ever gone to if you’re rooting for the opposition,” he wrote in the email. Considering the fact that he is one of the few Sabres fans to actually see the team win in person this year, I’d say that sounds about right.

Hopefully that’s something we see much more of tonight. If anyone else visits an away building and wants to send us some things, feel free. It’s fun to get mail, and I promise we will respond faster than we did with Salty T. We’re… rusty.

I went to a game in Ottawa 2 years ago and it was a great time!

This guy has nothing on me, as far as assault by mascots is concerned.

When I was 11, I was playfully pulling at the tail of Buster Bison at good ol’ Pilot Field, or whatever it is called now.

Later, we met up in the elevator. When the doors closed, he pulled me up by my shirt, slammed me against the elevator wall, and behind his face screen hissed “If I catch you touching my tail again I am going to kill you.”

Now THAT is a mascot! Best baseball moment of my life.
