Rain may have canceled our first chance to see Stephen Strasburg pitch, but it looks like our sacrifices to the baseball gods have paid off nicely.
As many of you know, Ryan and I made the trip to Rochester two weeks ago with Ryan’s friend Nick and Paul from Hockey Rhetoric with the intention of seeing Strasburg take the mound against the Red Wings. We got there and then they postponed the game.
We couldn’t make his start the next night so we were worried he may not make it to Buffalo. Our fears were officially alleviated today:
The Washington Nationals announced Sunday that Strasburg, the megaprospect pitcher who was the No. 1 overall pick in baseball’s amateur draft last June out of San Diego State, will make his next start for the Syracuse Chiefs against the Bisons here Thursday. The game will start at 1:05 p.m.
Knowing our luck, I’ll get stuck at work, Ryan will have to watch from the auxiliary press box underneath the J.P. Losman billboard and a monsoon will rage over Lake Erie.
Here’s to baseball.
