End of the Road

By Chris

In a few weeks, Lindy Ruff, Ryan Miller, Jochen Hecht, Andrej Sekera, Toni Lydman and Henrik Tallinder will be back in Vancouver to compete in the Winter Olympics. It’s no surprise that they’re already fielding questions about the tournament as they’re in town to take on the Canucks tonight.

With the break only 10 games away, it also means our second favorite day of the season (after opening night) is right around the corner: Trade Deadline Day. General managers will have to be talking trades throughout the Olympic break since they only have four days from when play resumes to the deadline to finalize their rosters. During that time, teams will need to decide if they’re going to make a playoff push or sell off their assets to rebuild.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be talking a lot about the Deadline and what the Sabres want and need for the stretch run and the playoffs.

But first, the Sabres need to wrap up their seven-game road trip. Roberto Luongo and the Sedins play host at 10 p.m. tonight. Let’s hope for two points.

Big game tonight, Vancouver is playing well and the refs will undoubtedly still be treating them with kid gloves…especially as the refs generally hate Buffalo, I expect a good 10 pp chances for Van tonight.

None the less, I’ve still got 20 on the Sabres tonight.
