I disagree with your stuff on Owens being a PR move. The Bills had already reached great heights in season ticket sales before signing T.O. He was brought in first and foremost to help the offense. It wasn’t go to hurt the bottom line even if he was a locker room cancer but they wanted his production. The same would be true of Vick if they signed him. It would be for on the field stuff especially since you would see boycotting and a loss of money, not making money.

    MattRichWarren,

Perhaps I’m being a bit too pessimistic about things on the Owens front. You’re right about Vick, he would bring some negative attention as well, much more so than Owens.

I think a lot of the above was about trying to overcome the feeling that we’re stuck, you know? Maybe frustration took away some of my rationale, as it usually does.

As a Bears fan I giggled in disbelief when I heard Buffalo signed Jauron, both because he actually got hired by someone and because I knew that the fans there really didn’t know what they were in for. Its not funny now, I’m sure. Look, Dick has the personality of a house plant and not much more coaching abillity. He’s rumored to be a good D-coordinator but even that is suspect. His philosphy is to keep it close and “play not to lose”. Its maddening. No emotion and sometimes no clue. When he was in Chicago he hired the now infamous John Shoop as his O-coordinator who was the worst you’ve ever seen and he is still hated in Chicago. Dick has NO clock management skills either which would seem like a pre-requisite for his very own coaching philosphy. I truly feel for you and I know you will have no success till he’s gone. I’m starting to wonder if the aging Ralph Wilson (who is old friends with Al Davis) is slipping in much the same way. Its sad.
PS Have you realized that TO is a cancer who is a shell of his former self yet?
