The Namesake

And that’s pretty much why we named the blog after him.

Jon was at the game last night and said he might have a View post coming this morning. It’s rare he gets a chance, so I’m not stepping on any toes. We’re both going tonight to the Thrashers game, so you’ll see something about that for sure, as well as UB football coverage from Chris.

I’ve been saving that picture for months. Thanks Jon.

Too bad you don’t have the clip with the Jeanneret call. It went roughly like “The Goose is loose!… and he’s in a baaadddd mood!”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Goose in such a snit before.

It feels like a different team this year…not like the same as the start last year either (or was it two years ago where they went 11 without a loss to start the season) – we all kind of knew that wasn’t real. Granted, I haven’t seen that much this year, but it just feels like they’re winning different…the kind of hockey that wins playoff games.

The other good omen is that they actually have defensemen that are *ready* to step in when the injuries start hitting…which wasn’t the case in years past. I haven’t been paying attention to the blue line much, but while Myers is the stats story (why don’t I have him the pool), Tallinder is +7, Butler is getting 22 minutes a game, Lydman and Sekara are working together to sequence out their injuries, Rivet is the man (I do have him in the pool), and Montador, well, I don’t know much about him.
