Quick news of the day:
–Buffalo Rumblings has a nice update on the Aaron Maybin Situation and what’s tying things up. To summarize:
We wrote last week that there was no end in sight for this holdout to end; a week later, that remains the brutal truth.
Hopefully the rookies sandwiching Maybin will sign soon, allowing him to finally get into camp.
-Teppo Numminen is set to retire. According to WGR550, the 82-game schedule wore him down. Whether that’s an issue of Lindy Ruff misusing him or how hard he worked just to get back into game shape after another heart surgery is a debate for another day. I am a little surprised that Darcy didn’t offer another raise.
-Also on the Sabres front, Colton Fretter has left the Portland Pirates to play in the Edmonton Oilers system. The Maine Hockey Journal has updates on former Sabres prospects who did not receive qualifying offers as well, including Mike Funk, Mike Card and Adam Dennis, who have all found new hockey homes.
–Sabres Prospects has a list of Sweden’s Olympic candidates and Jhonas Enroth is among them.
-Dany Heatley may end up in San Jose…if someone can convince the Canadiens to play along. Please get this guy out of the division.
-I love MST3K, so thanks to HIYLJ for the laughs.
